Man, 28, Arrested For Being In Possession Of English Pistol During Cult Meeting

Police operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad 2, Command Headquarters, Ikeja, have arrested a 28-year old man, Kelly Pius, for being in possession of firearms during a secret cult meeting. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 27th July, 2025, at Ayobo in Ipaja area of Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large went for their meeting, unknown to them that the information leaked. The Police stormed the place and arrested the suspect but others managed to escape.

 

During routine searching, he was found with the English fabricated gun and was detained at the Command for interogation to know if he was an armed robber or not.

 

While being interrogated, he admitted to have procured it for his cult activities in Lagos State and that he was not an armed robber.

 

The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Kelly Pius ‘m’ and others now at large on the 27th day of July, 2025, at about 1700hrs at Ipaja Ayobo, Ipaja Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: unlawful possession of fire arms and managing an unlawful society and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Kelly Pius ‘m’ and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district, did knowingly belong to and attended meeting of an unlawful society knows as Aro Confraternity and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 42 of the Criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT III: “That you, Kelly Pius ‘m’ and others now at large on the same date, time and place, at the aforementioned Magisterial District, with intent to commit felony did have in your possession one English Fabricated Pistol gun and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 312 (c) of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
