A 28-year old man, Sunday Ikechukwu, has been arrested after he was found with stolen goat he had already slaughtered for sale in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ademulegun Estate, Isolo area of Lagos, where Ikechukwu resides.

It was gathered that there had been incessant missing of goats and other items in the estate which were of serious concern to the residents and they decided to keep watch and know who those behind the acts.
On 2nd September, 2019, the suspect, Ikechukwu, was reportedly arrested with a goat already slaughtered and hidden inside a bag at 3.30am early in the morning with other suspected stolen items including car keys, Sim cards and other items.

The security guards in the estate interrogated him to know where he got the goat he had already butchered that morning but he did not give a satisfactory answer. He was then handed over to the Police at Isolo Division for further investigation.
During investigation, the Police found Ikechukwu culpable and later charged him before Isolo Magistrates Court for being in possession of butchered goat and other items suspected to have been stolen.
He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since the defendant pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A Teluwo, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 5th November, 2019.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the butchered goat was recovered as exhibit by the Police but was not brought to the Court as the Police were unable to establish the owner of the particular goat found with Ikechukwu. It was not certain if the goat was still at the station as exhibit.
