Man, 29, Arrested For Stealing Toyota Sienna Worth N9m

A 29-year old man, Gadafi Samuel, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a Toyota Sienna worth N9m belonging to Mukaleen Oshinberu.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 20th January, 2025, at Abeokuta Street in Ikeja area of Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large stole the vehicle where it was parked on the street and escaped to an unknown place. When the complainant discovered that the Toyota Sienna was missing, he reported to the incident at the Police at MAN Centre Division. The Police moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained at the station for interrogation over the missing the vehicle.

 

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Gadafi Samuel and others at large on 20th January, 2025, at about 0640hrs at Abeokuta Street, Ikeja, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit Felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT II:” That you, Gadafi Samuel and others at large on same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial strict did steal one Toyota Sienna with Reg No. KTU 354 GE ued N9,000,000:00k (Nine Million Naria Only), property of one Mukaleen Oshinberu ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, DSP Benson, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
