Man, 30, Arrested For Having S*x With Girl, 13, Inside Market

A 30-year old man, Abdulwahab Adamu, has been arrested for allegedly engaging a 13-year old girl in sex inside the market in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened  inside Alaba Rago Market in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos.

The suspect, Adamu, reportedly lured the victim into one of shops in the market, fondled her breasts, she became confused and in the process he removed her pant and penetrated her.
However, they were caught in the act and the victim claimed that the man, Adamu, lured her into the act without her consent and she was afraid to raise alarm.

Adamu was then handed over to the Police in the area. The operatives later handed him over to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation.

During interrogation, Adamu admitted that he slept with her but insisted he did not force her because it was with her consent he committed the act despite her age.The Police found him culpable and later charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty.

The Court did not take his plea and ordered him to be remanded in a Correctional centre following the motion by the prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, to the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the request and ordered Adamu to be remanded and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 10th August 2020 for report of the DPP’s advice to be available while the defendant remain in custody pending the outcome of DPP’s advice.

However, he may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
