A 32-year old man, Frank Nnamonu, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he allegedly lured a 14-year old girl, engaged her in sex and they were caught.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the parents of the girl reported the dastardly act to the Police and Nnamonu was arrested and remanded in Correctional Centre at Badagry, Lagos State.

The alleged offence was committed at Ilogbo area of Badagry Local Government, where they reside. Hence he was charged before the Badagry Magistrates Court for defilement, which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.

However, he pleaded not guilty before the Court.

The Court did not grant him bail following a motion by the prosecuting Counsel, Ikem Uko, to the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice due to the nature of the offence.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Patrick Adekomaiya, ordered his remand in custody without an option of bail and adjourned the matter till 20th October, 2021, for a hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ikem Uko, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on 2nd August 2021, at about 7.20 pm in the Ilogbo area of Lagos and the parents of the girl reported the case at the Police station.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The defendant, who denied the alleged offence, may likely be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence over jurisdiction.
