A 33-year old man, Anifowoshe Lukmon, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly luring and engaging his neighbour’s 9-year old girl in sex.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Anuoluwapo Street, Hostel bus stop, Ikotun area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect, Lukmon, allegedly lured the victim into his apartment, locked his door from inside and engaged her in the act. And having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anyone.

However, the matter got exposed after the victim revealed what happened to her parents and the matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division. The suspect was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The charge read:

“That you, Anifowoshe Lukmon ‘M’,Anuoluwapo Street, Hostel B/Stop, Ikotun-Lagos at about 19hrs-2200hrs, in the above- mentioned address, did defile the victim and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 137, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, without an option of bail pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 15th October, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
