Man, 34, Lands In Trouble For Beating Up Lady At Restuarant During Squabble

A 34-year old man, Adebayo Saheed, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly beating up a lady, Veronica Effiong, in her restaurant during a squabble over an undisclosed matter. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 3rd August, 2024, at her restaurant located at No 27, Lukman Avenue, New Oko-Oba, Abule Egba area of Lagos.
According to the Police,  the suspect, who resides on the same street where the restaurant is located, had an altercation with the lady and in the process, he grabbed, beat her mercilessly and inflicted injury on her body.
The matter was reported to the Police at Oko-Oba Division. The man was arrested and detained at the station over his alleged conduct against the victim, Veronica Effiong.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged assault.
Part of the charges read:
COUNT I: That you, Adebayo Saheed, “M” on the 3/8/2024 at about 09:30hrs of No 20, Lukman Avenue, New Oko-Oba, Abule Egba, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did beat one Veronica Effiong “F” of No 27, Lukman Avenue, New Oko-Oba, Abule Egba, Lagos, by pushing her on the floor and Inflicting injuries on her body and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Adebayo Saheed, “M” on the same date, time and place at the aforementioned magisterial district, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach the peace by beating up one Veronica Effiong “F” of No 27, Lukman Avenue New Oko-Oba Abule Egba, Lagos, in her restaurant and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168 (d) of Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
