Man, 35, Arrested For Pouring Hot Water On Senior Wife During Quarrel

A 35-year old man, Ebenezer Glory Nkiruka, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly pouring hot water on his senior wife, Yetunde Adewale, during a quarrel in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 7th April, 2024, at Igbeeyinadun Close, Ajasa Command, Lagos.
According to the Police,  the duo had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter. And in the process, they had exchanged of words during which the husband reportedly poured hot water on her body and inflicted injury on her.
She was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and the matter was reported to the Police at Meiran Division,! The defendant was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for causing grievous harm on the victim by pouring hot water on her body.
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edema Mojirade, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, S.O. Salihu, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
