A 36-year old man, Olaoye Abiodun, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly engaging his 12-year old biological daughter in sex for seven years.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Kogberegbe Street, Isolo area of Lagos State, where they reside.

The daughter’s mother remarried to another man identified as Azeez and left the victim with the father when she was five years. He started abusing and deflowered her through the years.
The Police alleged that he warned the daughter not to tell anyone what had been happening and she kept it to herself.

However, when she was unable to bear the trauma any longer, she revealed what had been happening to her mother, who reported to the Police in the area. The man was then arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for interrogation over the alleged conduct.

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable for incest and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Ex. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP to be ready while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.

The defendant may likely be transferred to the High Court for trial if the DPP”s report finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
