Man, 38, Remanded In Custody For Defiling Biological Daughter, 10

A 38-year old man, Lucky Ugwauka, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his 10-year old biological daughter. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Abapasha Street, Ojo area of Lagos.

 

He has been charged before the Badagry Magistrate Court for the alleged defilement under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on 16th August, 2024, at their house and threatened to kill her if she revealed his sexual escapades to anyone. And so she kept it to herself but later revealed what had been happening to her.

 

The matter was reported to the Police and the man was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation. He was found culpable for the act and subsequently charged before the Court.

 

The prosecutor told the Court that the alleged offence contravened the provisions of Sections 139, 263 and 58 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The Court also ordered that the sureties should be Level 14 officers in the Civil Service and adjourned the case till 30th September, 2024, for mention.
