Man, 39, Arraigned For Maliciously Damaging Car At Mechanic Village

A 39-year old man, Ibrahim Lawal, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly vandalizing and damaging a Honda Civic 2001 Model car valued N4.5m belonging to the one Mansuru Musa.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Mangoro Mechanic Workshop, Agege area of Lagos, where the complainant took the car for repairs.
According to the Police,  the complainant took the car to the workshop for repairs and the suspect vandalized, damaged the car, bolted away and disconnected every communication he had with the complainant.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isokoko Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Ibrahim Lawal, ‘m’ on the 30th day of March, 2024 at about 1310hrs at Mangoro Mechanic Workshop, Agege Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did maliciously damage a Honda Civic 2001 Model car valued Four Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N4, 500,000.00) property of one Mansuru Musa ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
