A 44-year-old man, Sunday Lukas, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring and inserting his finger into the private part of his neighbour’s 9-year old girl.

He was remanded in custody on Wednesday, 11th September, 2024, by the order of the Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Badagry, Lagos, presided over by Mr. Patrick Adekomaiya, for allegedly defiling the victim.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Adekomaiya, ordered that Lukas be remanded at the Awarjigoh Correctional Centre, Badagry, after he pleaded not guilty to a count charge of alleged assault.
The Court also ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and send it to the office of the Director for Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned till 28th October, 2024, for a ruling on the bail application filed by Lukas and for the DPP’s legal advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The Police prosecutor, Ayodele Adeosun, had earlier told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on 28th May, 2024, by indecently assaulting the victim by inserting his fingers into her private part.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
