Man, 45, Arrested For Swindling Business Man Of N11m Under False Pretence

A 45-year old man, Dada Alaba, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defrauding a business man, Oyedepo Olamilekan, to the tune of N11m under false pretence.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 23rd November,2023 at Unity Estate, Abule Odu area of Egbeda, Lagos, where the suspect accosted the victim.
According to the Police, the suspect accosted the victim and asked him to bring the money in question for him to invest on Morgan stone, which will yield huge profit for him.
The victim believed him and gave him the money through his First Bank account number, 3089158190, to invest with the hope to make profits in return unknown to him he had been defrauded.
The suspect collected the money, bolted away and disconnected every communication he had with him and did not also refund the money.
The matter was reported to the Police at Area M Command at Idimu. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained hkm at the Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and asked him to refund the money but he claimed that he had spent the money and had no money to refund the victim.
The matter was charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and obtaining under false pretence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 30th August, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
