Man, 47, Arrested For Stealing N3m Bus Parked On Street

A 47-year old man, Samami Ayomide, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a Volkswagen Faragon bus parked on the street.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Agbado Ijaiye area of Lagos, where the bus with registration number, AAA513YD belonging to Abdulsalami Olarewaju was parked.
According to the Police, the suspect, Ayomide and others now at large had on 2nd March, 2024, conspired, stole the vehicle and escaped. When the owner, Olarewaju did not see the vehicle where he parked it, he reported to the Commissioner of the Police Special Squad, who moved into action and eventually arrested Ayomide before he was detained at the Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal code of Lagos State 2015.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since the defendant pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Ex. Kubenije, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 10th July, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
