A 48-year old man, identified as Sunday Olowolafe, has landed in trouble in Ondo State for allegedly defiling his 11-year old daughter by forcefully penetrating her and she bled from her private part.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Olowolafe, has been arrested and charged before the Magistrate Court for the alleged defilement.
The man was alleged to have committed the alleged offence on multiple occasions between June and July 2024, at his residence in Akure North Local Government Area.
He was arraigned on a two-count charge of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault, under the Criminal law of the State, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Umoru Omolaye, informed the Court that the victim’s mother reported the matter to the Police after discovering that her daughter was bleeding from her private part.
When the mother asked to know who did that to her, she mentioned her father. Thus, the Police arrested and charged him before the Court.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned after the prosecutor asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Charity Adeyanju, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.
The matter was adjourned to January 2025 for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
