Man, 49, Arrested For Armed Robbery After Snatching Toyota Car During Operation

Police operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad have arrested a 49-year old suspected armed robber, Abiodun Akinsanya, after he allegedly snatched a Toyota Corolla car worth N5m in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Akinsanya, was arrested in Agege area of the State by the Police while his gang went for an operation and snatched the car with registration number, SMK 420 PQ belonging to Temidire Olorunwa.
However, while they were escaping, the operatives apprehended the suspect, recovered the car and others escaped and now at large.

“That you Abiodun Akinsonye ‘m’ and others at large, on the 5th day of June, 2024 at about 2000hrs, at Oke-Koto Agege, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: armed robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
“That you Abiodun Akinsonye ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 5th day of June, 2024 at about 2000hrs, at the same place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did rob one Toyota Corolla car with Reg. No. SMK 420 PQ valued at Five million, six hundred and seventy thousand Naira #5,670,000.00), property of one Temidire Olorunwa ‘m’ and thereby mmitted an offence contrary to Section 296 and punishable under Section 7(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
After interrogation at the State Police Command, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court over jurisdiction and the case was adjourned for mention.
