A woman, Mrs. Olawunmi Waide, received serious beating in Lagos State from her husband, Oyinkuro Waide, after she gave him the sum of N775,000 to service a loan he took and he squandered the money.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the husband,  Oyinkuro has been arrested and charged for the alleged assault on the wife,  Olawunmi.
The incident happened at Agoro Bogunbolu Street, off Akanro Road, Ilasamaja area of Lagos State, where they reside.
Trouble was said to have started after the wife, Olawunmi, gave her husband the money in question to service the loan he took in order not to attract more penalties for defaulting in repayment.
However, after collecting the money from her, the husband converted it to his own personal use. Later the wife discovered that he did not use the money to service the loan as they had agreed before she gave him the money.
The wife was said to have confronted him to know why he did not use the money for the loan repayment. He attacked her,  threw her on the ground and beat her mercilessly before she was rescued by the neighbours.
The matter was reported to the Police and the husband was arrested. Having been found culpable after rounds of interrogation, the Police charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged assault on the wife.
However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
