Police operatives from Ikotun Division in Lagos have arrested a 50-year old man, Tyndale Ede, for allegedly sleeping and defiling his biological daughter for some years.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ede, allegedly started abusing the victim from when she was 11 and continued till 28th May, 2020, when she had turned 19 before her mother discovered and reported to the Police.
The dastardly act reportedly took place at No. 26 Kajola Street off Emmanuel Bus Stop, Governor’s Road in Ikotun area of Lagos.
It was gathered that the father took advantage of the girl, who is their first child, because her mother usually went out very early in the morning and came back in the late evening and having no time to take of the children because of her business.
It was gathered that the abuse had continued and he threatened the girl never to tell anybody what he was doing to her. However, when she grew older and discovered that what she was doing was abominable, she was also ashamed to tell anybody that her father was sleeping with her. But she later summoned courage and confided in her mother about the trauma she was passing through for those years.
The mother was said to have been shocked and ashamed of herself because she faced her business and did not take care of her children, which prompted her husband to molest her for those years without her knowledge. She was said to have secretly arranged for another accommodation, took her children away and reported to the Police at Family Support Unit, Ikotun. The Police operatives then arrested Ede. There he reportedly admitted that he slept with her for those number of years.
Having been found culpable, he was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement. When he was brought to Court and charged for the alleged offence, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because it was a capital offence which involved life imprisonment as penalty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of fine and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice. The matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
