Man, 51, Sent To Prison For Battering Police Inspector While Performing Duty

A Police Inspector, Owosho Adekunle, attached to Ejigbo Division in Lagos State, had a nasty experience while performing his lawful duty as he was brutally attacked and battered.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ejigbo area, where Adekunle went to perform his duty before he was allegedly assaulted, injured and was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The man behind the attack, Paulinus Ezekwele, has been arrested and charged for conspiracy, obstruction and assault on the Police officer.
According to the Police, Adekunle accosted Ezekwele for committing an undisclosed offence and he reportedly grabbed him, rained blows on him and tore his uniform in the process.
However, the officer was later rescued by his colleagues, who as well arrested Ezekwele and detained at the station for interrogation over his conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a short adjournment for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
