Man, 52, Sent To Prison For Defiling & Impregnating Neighbour’s Girl, 15

A 52-year old man, Suleman Akinola, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring and engaging his neighbour’s 15-year in sex severally and Impregnating her in the process. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Raimi Street, Jakande Ajangbadi, Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police,  the suspect lured the girl into the act in the months of March, June and October, 2024, severally and warned her not to tell anyone about it.
However, the whole act got exposed after she became pregnant and her parents noticed the changes in her body. She was taken to the hospital for medical test and it was confirmed that she was pregnant.
It was then she revealed that she had been sleeping with the suspect for several months, which resulted into pregnancy.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ilembe Hausa Division and the man was arrested. He was transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for further investigation.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Suleman Akinola ‘m’, sometimes in the months of March, June and October 2024, at No. 6, Raimi Street, Jakande Ajangbadi, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile the victim by having forceful sexual intercourse with her without her consent and got her pregnant and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned after the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
