Man, 63, Caught Having Sex With Girl, 11

The court has ordered for the remand in prison custody of a 63-year old man, Demola Williams, who was caught having sex with his neighbour’s 11-year old daughter in Surulere, Lagos.

The incident happened at Clegg Street at Surulere, Lagos, where they reside.

Police source said that the embattled Williams allegedly lured the victim into his apartment when the victim’s parents were not around and defiled her. The man reportedly confused the victim, removed her pant and forcefully penetrated her. In the process, he inflicted injury on her private part and she bled profusely because of forceful penetration.

The act could not be hidden because of the injury and she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment where the doctor reportedly confirmed that she was raped.
The matter was first reported to the police in the area who arrested William and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command, Lagos. He was detained at the Command for interrogation. The police after investigation found him culpable and charged him to court for the alleged offence.
When the man was arraigned, the prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, informed the court that it was a case of defilement and asked the court to make an order for the report of the DPP to ascertain where the matter will be determined.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, denied him bail and ordered his remand in custody. The court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 12th November, 2018. It was gathered that the matter will be transferred to the High Court if the DPP confirms the rape allegation against him.
