The Ogun State Police Command, on 11th January, 2019,  arrested a 72-year old man, Abiodun Bamgbopa and seven others who were said to be members of a fraud syndicate that have defrauded many unsuspecting members of the public of their hard earned money.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the other suspects were Olashile Raheem, 35, Nureni Raheem, 32, Raphael Joseph, 24, Ganiu Olawale 24, Adenubi Samiu 25, Mustapha Lukman 39 and Raimi Ramoni, 42.

This was disclosed by the PPRO, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
Oyeyemi explained that the suspects were arrested following information from a member of public who reported that some men just arrived the town and that their movements were suspicious. He said that upon the information, the DPO Ago Iwoye Division, CSP Ade Adedoyin, directed his detectives to be on the trail of the said men and technically profile and investigate them. The detectives succeeded in trailing them to their shrine where they swindle unsuspecting victims who they deceive in the guise of rendering one spiritual help or the other for, consequent upon which many had been made to fraudulently part with millions of Naira.
The suspects were apprehended and taken to Ago Iwoye Divisional Headquarters where they were interrogated and they reportedly confessed to be fraudsters. They were said to have confessed capitalising on the gullibility of their victims to dupe them.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the activities of the syndicate and to charge them to a Court of competent jurisdiction as soon as the investigations were completed. He equally advised members of the public to beware of the antics of fraudsters pretending to be spiritualists.
