Man Arraigned For Battering LASTMA Officer

A 20-year old man, Benjamin Archibong has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly attacking and battering an official of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr. Omoyesan Olumide.
Akwa Ibom State-born suspect was arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Task Force after he attacked and wounded the officer while on official duty.
The Task Force operatives rescued the victim and arrested the suspect at Ajah in Lagos where Olumide was on official duty with his team.
The suspect allegedly attacked and obstructed a Team (B) LASTMA officials, Zone 14, Lekki-Ajah axis from impounding a commercial Volkswagen bus with registration number FKJ 688 XV whose driver resisted an arrest for picking and dropping passengers at an unauthorized place around the Lekki-Ajah area.
The suspect, Archibong who resides at Jakande Estate, Lekki, Phase 1, Lagos was charged with assault, obstruction and conduct likely to cause breach of peace under the Criminal.
He pleaded not guilty.
At the Ogba Magistrate’s court where he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Barrister Adedoyin Odukoya did not object to his bail.
The presiding Magistrate, Adepeju Odusanya granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned to 28 February, 2017 for further hearing.
