Man Arrested For Faking Madness On The Street

The Operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, have arrested a 22-year old Okorocha Chibuzor who claimed to be mad in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect was arrested at Abimbola Way at Lekki (Phase 1), following strong suspicion that he was pretending to be mad and used it to commit crimes in the area.

It was gathered that the police accosted him while he was acting in disorderly manner and asked him when his madness started and he replied stating the date to the surprise of the officers.

He was subsequently arrested and detained at SARS office in Ikeja for interrogation to ascertain if he was an armed robber.

It was gathered that the suspect left his Ikotun home and went to Lekki where he displayed the madness to achieve what was not yet clear to the police officers who arrested him.

However, Chibuzor was charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence.

He pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Okakhia granted him bail in the sum of N100,00 with one surety in like sum
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 1 February, 2018.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped from prison officials that Chibuzor has not shown any sign of being mentally challenged in custody. That confirmed the allegation and discreet investigation that the suspect was actually pretending to be a mad person.
He was yet to be released because none of his relations had gone to court to perfect his bail condition.
