Man Arrested Inside Church Stealing From Members During vigil

A member of an Aladura Church, Sunday Adeoye has been arrested inside the church during a vigil for alleged stealing of members’ properties while the service was on.
The incident happened at the church auditorium located at Church Street, Meiran in Alimosho area of Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that 38-year old Adeoye pretended to be in the church for the vigil service meanwhile he had other motive.
It was gathered that while the prayer was on, he was busy stealing the members’ valuables while at the same time pretending to be praying.
However, luck ran out on him when he started touching parts of the body of a female member, Bolugbe Opeyemi who was sleeping to steal what she had on her body.
Opeyemi then raised alarm which attracted the attention of the church security men.
When he was searched, it was discovered that he had already stolen other members phones, money and other items.
The matter was reported to the police at Meiran division and Adeoye was arrested and taken to the station.
Some of the items recovered from him including mobile phones, money and other valuables are with the police kept as exhibits to be tendered in court.
At the station, Adeoye admitted that he was not a member of the church but attended the programme to steal.
He was charged before Ogba Magistrates court with stealing in a place of worship under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr J.A. Abegun granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surtey in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 16 May 2017.
