Man Divorces Wife After 13 Years Of Marriage Over Denial Of Sex For Years

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Customary Court sitting in Agege, Lagos, has officially dissolved the marriage over claims of sexual deprivation and irreconcilable differences.

The petitioner, Mr. Tunde Adeyemi, told the Court that his wife, Mrs. Funke Adeyemi, had persistently denied him sex for several years, resulting in emotional trauma and a breakdown of marital trust. Hence he asked the Court to dissolve the marriage so that he can move on with his life.

During the hearing at the Court, Mr. Adeyemi explained that despite multiple efforts to resolve their differences, his wife consistently refused intimacy without providing any explanation. He stated that the lack of physical affection not only strained the relationship but also created a hostile home environment.

In response, the wife, Mrs. Adeyemi,  claimed she had lost interest in the marriage years ago and saw no reason to continue pretending. She agreed to the dissolution, stating that continuing the union would be unfair to both parties and she consented to the dissolution of the marriage.

The president of the Court, Mrs. Patricia Adetokunbo, noted that the relationship has broken irreparably and consequently dissolved the marriage.

She emphasized that a marriage without mutual affection and fulfillment cannot thrive. She granted the custody of their two children to the wife, while ordering the husband to provide monthly child support.

This scenario may have highlighted some of the challenges and what many marriages are facing in various homes yet the agony is hidden from the public for years with the attendant mental and psychological trauma for both parties in the marriage.
