It was double jeopardy for a 32-year old man, Anyanwu Udochukwu, after his childhood friend, Joseph Fred, snatched his lover, Charity Owoh and sent him to prison for protesting through test message in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ayinde Street, Ijegun area of Lagos, where both Udochukwu and Fred including the lady in question, Charity Owoh reside.

According to Udochukwu, Fred was his childhood friend, they grew up and had different girl friends in the area. But along the line, Fred lost his own girlfriend, then went behind and snatched Charity Owoh from him.
He said initially he did not believe that Fred would do such to him until he investigated and confirmed that it was true. He became devastated because it was his friend, Fred, who did it. He then sent messages to both of them registering his displeasure with threat to deal with them.

They did not take the threat lightly and the matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division; Udochukwu was arrested and detained for interrogation over his conduct.
He admitted to have sent the test messages to them before Charity involved her parents having threatened to expose her nakedness on the social media, which he claimed he did not do.

The Police alleged Udochukwu to have sent threat messages to Fred that he would kill him for snatching Charity from him as well as threatening Charity that he will expose her nude pictures on the social media.

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Isolo Magistrates Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace by sending threat messages to Fred and Charity.

When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale, asked the Court to give a short date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Akokhia, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till 14th June, 2022, for mention while the defendant was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
