Man Proposes To Marry 14-year old Girl He Raped, Got Pregnant

A 33-year old man, Mr Daniel Ohemu who was arrested for allegedly defiling a 14-year old girl and in the process impregnated her has reportedly offered to marry her.

The offer, P.M.EXPRESS gathered was made by Ohemu to placate the family as a condition to settle the matter out of court despite the fact that he already had a wife.

However, his offer was rejected by the police who charged him before a Lagos court for rape and getting an underaged victim pregnant.

The incident happened at Olumo Street, Cement area of Agege Lagos where the suspect and the girl’s parents reside.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect lured the victim with gifts and was secretly sleeping with her but warned her not to tell anybody.

However, the bubble burst when he impregnated her and she did not know she was even pregnant and continued.

It was gathered that when the girl’s mother noticed changes in her body, she asked her what happened and who impregnated her, it was then the girl mentioned that it was Ohemu who had been sleeping with her but told her not to tell anybody.

When the parents contacted Ohemu, he admitted that he had slept with her but did not know she will get pregnant at that age and offered to resolve the matter with her parents.

However, her parents rejected his offer and reported the matter at the Nigeria Police Gender Section.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the station where he pleaded and offered to marry the victim in order to settle the matter which was also rejected by the police.

He was charged before Ogba Magistrates court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Code.

He pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Davis Abegunde granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 18 September, 2017.
