A 37-year old Emmanuel Joseph has vented his anger on a police sergeant, Ukrakpo John in Lagos, who attempted to arrest him by giving him hot slap which made him to quickly retreat and return to the police station.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Afolabi area of Igando in the outskirt of Lagos where Joseph resided.

The victim suffered his fate as he went to perform his official duty; to invite or possibly arrest Joseph for an undisclosed offence. It was gathered that when he approached Joseph and informed him that the DPO wanted to see him at the police station, he replied that he was going nowhere because he did not commit any offence. It was when the police officer attempted to enforce the law by attempting to arrest and take him to the police station that he received the shock of his life.

The suspect reportedly gave him a surprise slap and tore his clothes. He was disorganised, hurriedly went back to the police station and reported what happened to him. The DPO then mobilised other officers, Joseph was eventually arrested and detained at the police station for the assault.

He was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates court.

He pleaded not guilty.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni granted Joseph bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Mr. G. Simon did not object his bail but asked the court to give Joseph bail that will enable him to come to court and face trial.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 28 March, 2018.
