A 26-year old man, Ibidemi Mojuba, who stabbed a sex worker identified as Charity for denying him sex after taken enhancing drugs, has been remanded in prison custody in Ikoyi, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reported how Ibidemi was arrested and charged before the Ebute Metta Magistrates Court for murder and remanded accordingly.
The incident happened at 55 Corporation Estate in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos where he resided with his brother.
The defendant was arrested by Police in the area and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department at Panti Yaba, who investigated and charged him to Court.
He was said to have invited the late Charity for sex romp after taking sex enhancing drugs and was prepared for action. However, the deceased insisted that he must pay her first before the romp, which caused the rift between them and in the process he used a kitchen knife and stabbed her. After he discovered that she was dead and was planning to secretly throw her corpse away, the neighbours who heard altercation moved in and found her dead.
He was handed over to the Police, who investigated and found him culpable for homicide. He was then charged before the Court.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Clara Olagbayi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, O.A. Olagbende, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The defendant, Ibidemi, may spend the rest of his life in prison if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends that he should be tried for murder. The matter was adjourned till 24th September, 2019.
