Tragedy struck in Ajah area of Lagos State as two brothers, Matthew Thompson, 25, engaged his elder brother, Sunday Thompson, 27, in a fight and in the process Matthew took a kitchen knife and stabbed his brother, Sunday and he died as a result.

P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened at Ikota Housing Estate, Ajah area of Lagos, where they reside.
Police operatives from Ogombo Division have arrested Matthew and transferred him to SCID, Yaba, for killing his brother, Sunday, in a dastardly manner.
The incident has thrown the entire Thompson family into a dilemma because already Sunday is dead and Matthew, who was arrested, will be prosecuted for murder, which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
According to the Police, the suspect, Sunday and the late Matthew had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter, which led to fighting. And in the process, Sunday took a knife and stabbed his brother, Matthew. He was said to have bled profusely before he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors and the corpse was deposited at mortuary for autopsy report.
After thorough interrogation at the SCID, Yaba, he was found culpable and subsequently charged before the Yaba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Rita Momah, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the punishment for the alleged offence is life imprisonment.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Olatunbosun, ordered his remand in correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
