Man Swindled N10m Over Deliverance Prayer To Boost Business

A business man, Atanda Bamidele, has lost a whopping sum of N10m after he took the money to a spiritualist for prayer to boost his business in Lagos State. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ayobo, Ipaja area of Lagos, where the fake spiritualist, Owojori Awobods Sunday, conspired with his gang now at large and allegedly defrauded the victim.

According to Police sources, the suspect, Sunday, trapped the victim with fake prophecy and ordered him to bring the money so that he will pray over it in order boost his business and he become very successful thereafter.

The victim believed and carried the money in cash to Sunday for the prayer.
During the prayer, Sunday took away the money and told the victim that the money has disappeared and he should go back home and he will receive more blessings.

He went home and waited for the blessings to no avail and his condition worsened.

He later realized that he had been duped and he wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police. The matter was referred to the State Investigation Bureau, SIB, and the suspect was arrested and detained at the Lagos State Command for interrogation.

During investigation, the Police found the suspect, Sunday, culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and fraud.
He pleaded not guilty. 

The prosecutor, Supol Clifford Ogu, asked the Court to give a short adjournment to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. J.A. Adegun, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum with one of the sureties to be the blood relation of the defendant.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 12th July, 2021, for mention.
