A 44-year-old man, Raimi Saka, has landed in trouble for allegedly shooting and killing a she-goat with a gun as he waits on the Directoriate Of Public Prosecution (DPP) to determine if he actually committed murder by killing the goat with gun in Oyo State.

The defendant was charged for being in possession of dangerous weapons and killing of the goat while the Court claimed that it lacked jurisdiction because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Kausarat Ayofe, did not take Saka’s plea for lack of jurisdiction and directed the prosecutor to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned till 8th August, 2024, for mention for the report of DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The prosecution counsel, Inspector Toyin Ibrahim, told the Court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on 1st June, 2024 at about 9pm at Ayegun, Oleyo area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Inspector Ibrahim alleged that the defendant, Saka, was armed with dangerous weapons, killed a she-goat belonging to one Mr Babatunde Azeez and the matter was reported to the Police before he was arrested and charged to Court.
He stated that the alleged offence contravened Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Laws of Nigeria, 2004, which attracts several years of punishment if he is found guilty before Court for the alleged offence.
