A 45-year old married man, Emeka Onuoha, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring a 17-year old girl into sex romp and the victim alleged that he raped her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Onuoha, has been arrested and charged for engaging an under aged girl in sex.
The incident happened at Church Street, Jakande Gate, Ejigbo area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the man lured the victim, confused her and engaged her in the act. Later the victim regained her senses and reported to the Police that Onuoha raped her.
Thus, the Police at Ikotun Division traced and later arrested Onuoha. He was then detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During the interrogation, he told the Police that he did so with the consent of the victim. But the Police found him culpable because the victim is still a minor under the law.
Hence, he was charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
Part of the charge read:
“That you Emeka Onuoha ‘m’, sometime May, 2024, between 3 and 2330hrs, at No. 20 Church Street, Jakande Gate, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did have canal knowledge of the victim by penetration of her private part thereby committed ence contrary to and punishable under Section 137, of the State Criminal Law, 2015.”
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the matter.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 13th August, 2024, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
