A married man, Augustine Binite has been caught in a double game after he allegedly obtained N400, 000 from a single lady, Bukola Grace and lied to her that he was single and was in search of woman as wife in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Idimu area of Lagos where they resided, met and became close friends.
The lady gave him the money to look for accommodation with the hope that it will enable them to start a closer relationship.
However, Grace later discovered that Binite had a wife with children which he hid from her and she asked him to return the money he had already spent on his family.
After Grace had waited for Binite to return her money for several months, she went to Idimu Police Division and reported the alleged fraud. Binite was arrested and detained at the police station. At the police station, Binite admitted and told the police that he had spent the money, will not be able to provide the money at that moment and needed time to refund it.
He was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court on Tuesday for the alleged offence. The prosecutor, Mr. G Simon asked the court to give a short adjournment for the trial as he had no objection for him to be granted bail.
The Presiding Magistrate, L.K.J. Layeni granted Binite bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The defendant was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 25 May, 2018.
When P.M.EXPRESS contacted Binite, he said that Grace was a single mother and his close friend and that she actually gave him the money but became angry when she discovered that he was married with children and did not inform her. He said that he was willing to refund the money but needed time. Binite said that it was from his arrest that his wife got to know Grace and she was not happy about the whole thing.
On the side of Grace, she said that Binite was not trustworthy; that she gave him the money but later discovered that he was not sincere and he asked him to return her money but he refused for over six months and she then reported the matter to the police.
