The ill luck that has trailed Lionel Messi in his inability to win a major tournament for his native Argentina may continue at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup that will begin this Thursday, as Hector Morales, an Argentine has said that the Barcelona FC of Spain player will not lead his country to triumph in Russia.
In an exclusive chat with PM EXPRESS in Moscow,  Morales said that the favourites to win the tournament are Brazil and Spain. He stressed that Argentina is parading great players with the potentials to win the World Cup.
“For me Messi is a good player,  the best player in the world today, but he may not win the World Cup for Argentina in Russia. Brazil is very strong, so many good players are in the team and I want them to win the World Cup if Argentina fails in her efforts, ” Morales said.
“The favourites teams to win the tournament are Brazil and Spain, may be Germany and Argentina can spring surprises, ” he added.

Concerning the last Group D game when Argentina will play Nigeria,  Morales admitted that it was a big relief for his country not to be playing the Super Eagles in their first game of the World Cup , insisting that Nigeria will be very difficult to beat , but he hopes by then, Argentina must have qualified for the next round .
“Your team Nigeria is good. We are happy in Argentina that the game is the last one in the group and we know your country can prove very difficult to win. Argentina will lead the group and we want to win the tournament, but I don’t think it is possible. Argentina has the best player in the world,  not the best team in the world, ” he said.
