MFM FC: Lagos FA Hails Gov Ambode’s Promises Of Support

The board of the Lagos State Football Association, (LSFA) has applauded Governor Akinwumi Ambode’s promises of support for the MFM International Football Club as the team set to represent Nigeria in the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League next season.
Ambode recently hosted the team where he appreciated them for doing state proud with donation of money to the players and the coach.
The Lagos FA said in a statement signed by the Chairman, Seyi Akinwunmi that the Governor was magnanimous with this action, saying “we sincerely expresses our gratitude to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for the reception granted to the LSFA affiliate team, MFM International Football Club, who became the first Lagos State based club in 16 years to qualify to play in the prestigious CAF Champions League.
” We also acknowledge and appreciate on behalf of the team, the monetary gift given to the club by His Excellency alongside a pledge to support the team in order to ensure a successful campaign on the continent.
We thank His Excellency for the directives given to the Lagos State Sports Commission and Lagos State Football Association to ensure everything is done to make Agege Stadium, Lagos duly certified by CAF as the home ground for our darling club. We seize the opportunity to commend His Excellency on all other sports development initiatives in the State including the ongoing transformation of Onikan Stadium into a world class Arena, the major upgrade of the Teslim Balogun Stadium and the proposed Lagos Games Village located along the Lekki-Epe axis to commence in 2018.
“We join His Excellency the Governor of Lagos State in congratulating MFM International Football Club and salute the vision of MFM General Overseer, Pastor Kayode Olukoya who founded the team ten years ago. We at the LSFA just like the Lagos State Government are proud to associate with his idea of meaningfully engaging the youths to contribute positively to the society. The LSFA is proud that our 6 (six) year old Ekofootball dream which aligns with the vision of the Lagos State Government on Tourism, Hospitality, Entertainment and Arts and Sports Excellence (T.H.E.S.E) has birthed a team of excellent youthful footballers and future leaders.”

The statement also reads that “on the proposed 20-team Lagos Super League referred to by the Governor. We are pleased to note that after the successful hosting of the Soccerex Seminar in Lagos, we set up a 13 man committee of eminent and knowledgeable persons who produced a comprehensive document articulating the concept of an independent commercial world class Community Based League for Lagos State. This document has recently been reviewed and shall be shared for discussions with the appropriate stakeholders for a seamless take off of the Lagos Super League before the end of 2018 as envisioned by His Excellency the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.
“We want to assure the football loving people of Lagos State led by His Excellency that the LSFA shall continue to align with the vision of the Lagos State Government and pray for the success of his administration and for God to grant His Excellency more wisdom as he steers the ship of the Centre of Excellence”
