MIIA Launches First Free Training Programme To Enhance Journalism Skills

The Board of Facilitators of the Media Integrity Initiative Africa (MIIA) has officially approved the timetable, training modules, and lead facilitators for its inaugural quarterly free training series.

This virtual training programme will take place over two Saturdays in April 2025 (12th and 19th), from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM via an online webinar platform.

The approved courses, their schedules, and the distinguished resource persons are as follows:

Day 1: Saturday, 12 April 2025

Session 1 (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM):

Writing for Digital Media

Facilitator: Tony Onyima, PhD, FNGE

(Former Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Sun Newspapers; Former Commissioner for Information, Culture & Tourism, Anambra State; Managing Consultant, Bridgehead Communications Network Ltd.)

Session 2 (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM):

Crisis Communication and Management

Facilitator: Alex Ogundadegbe

(Former Entertainment Editor, Punch; Former Editor, The Week; Certified Trainer in HRM, Customer Service, etc.; CEO, Optimum Performance)

Day 2: Saturday, 19 April 2025

Session 1 (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM):

The Art of Effective Presentation

Facilitator: Tokunbo Ojekunle

(Veteran Broadcaster; Former Head of Presentations, Radio Lagos; Former Director of Marketing, Eko FM; Former General Manager, Max FM, Lagos)

Session 2 (1:30 PM – 3:00 PM):

Photography: The Critical Minimum

Facilitator: Adeboye Ola, PhD

(Veteran Photojournalist; Deputy Provost, Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos)
