The leading aspirant for the November 6 governorship election, Uche Ekwunife, has urged mothers to engender peace, persevere in prayers and hard work. She described the contributions of mothers as key to nation building.

Ekwunife said this in a message released on Sunday, March 14, 2021, in commemoration of mothering Sunday, which was celebrated by many christian denominations.

The Federal lawmaker charged mothers to use the opportunity of this year’s celebration to reflect on the state of the nation and pray for peace and progress of the country.

“As we celebrate the gift of motherhood, we are reminded of the invaluable role of mothers in the society. Mothers are bridge builders and natural care-givers. Beyond our ability and responsibility to care and support the growth of children, mothers are intrinsically empathetic, resourceful and endearing.”

Ekwunife urged mothers to persevere in prayers and hard work. She noted that in time like this when our society is at the brink of moral collapse, mothers have a significant role to play in rebuilding the character and thinking of the society through domestic value oriented education.

Ekwunife celebrated all women who have exemplified the true virtues of motherhood in their personal, family and public life. She called for efforts to encourage the sacrifices mothers make towards the building and sustenance of homes, families and societies, and prayed for God’s blessings, favour and grace upon all mothers in Anambra State and Nigeria.
