As Winners Golden Bet Lagos State Challenge Cup kicks off this week, chairman MS Success Football Club of Mushin, Musbau Oseni has explained why his team failed to register for the competition.

In a chat with our correspondent, Oseni disclosed that most of his mature players have gotten offers within and outside the country and there is no way his coaches can assemble a formidable team for the annual competition.

“Initially we were planning to play this year Lagos FA Cup but by the time we got the information that Lagos FA Cup would kick off in November, most of our matured players have signed for professional clubs within and outside the country,” he said.

Oseni said playing in Lagos FA Cup requires recruiting quality players and preparing better. He said he purposely not to take part in this year’s Lagos FA Cup because he wants the new and old players to train together for some months before playing competitive competition.

“As I said, some of our players have left for the club for good and we just recruited some new players and they need to play together with old players. So our target now is to play in next year Lagos FA Cup.It is very painful that I miss this year Lagos FA Cup and I wish all the participating teams all the best in their outings,” he said.

Meanwhile the title sponsor, Winners Golden Bet has announced the sum of 1million naira for the winners with a giant trophy, while the first runner up would go home with the sum of N500,000 in the male category.

In the female category, winners would pocket the sum of N500, 000, while the first runner up would receive N300, 000.

Eight four teams are expected to participate in this year’s Lagos FA Cup in the male category, while ten teams registered in the female category. The much anticipated annual football competition would kick off this week across five divisions in the state.
