Police detectives from the Anambra State Police Command have nabbed the key suspect in the murder of former President General of Nimo Town Union, Chief Frank Igboka.

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Dan Daura, on Monday 29th April, 2019, paraded the key suspect in Awka.

The suspect, Mr. Chigbo Anaegbu, a.k.a Transformer, 27, hails from Nimo and lives in the same neighborhood with the assassinated former President General. The suspect confessed to having three accomplices who are currently at large.

The suspected accomplices are: Smart ( Surname unknown) from Aguleri, Chukwunonso alias nwa Sammy from Ukpo and Obinna Okafor from Onitsha

CP Dan Daura declared the commands readiness to arrest the fleeing suspects. He also paraded other suspects arrested for murder, cultism and drug trafficking.

Gov. Willie Obiano had earlier declared a reward of N5m for anyone who would aid the arrest of the suspects by providing useful information to the police. The Governor has however increased the reward to N5m per suspect making it a total of N15m. This is in a bid to ensure that the fleeing suspects are arrested as soon as possible.

The 27-year old suspect, Chigbo Aniegbu, when he was paraded disclosed that he was not the one that shot the deceased. He said that the deceased had chased members of his gang from the town, insisting they would not return until they turned a new life.

Aniegbu, who confessed being a member of Vikings cult group, however said he ignorantly, joined the gang in the vehicle from a neighboring town to his community.

He said, “I was at Oyeolise when they picked me. They told me to join them for an operation, but I was not told that the operation involved the killing of Igboka. That was why I was speechless when they started shooting the man. I don’t have any personal issue with him. After all, two of us are from the same village”.

“The only mistake I made was entering the vehicle without confirming exactly where they were headed” he said.
