When a woman, Mrs. Sadinatu Adamu, got married to her husband, Yakubu Abdulmajid, five years ago, she never bargained that the marriage will bring sorrow to her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the marriage has collapsed and the embittered woman, Mrs. Sadinatu, has filed a suit at Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, against her husband, Yakubu Abdulmajid, seeking for the dissolution of the marriage because he flogs and accuses her of being a burden to him as wife.
The embittered woman, Mrs. Sadinatu, stated this in her divorce petition alleging that her embattled husband, Mr. Yakubu, battered, maltreated her over the years and she had no peace in the marriage.
“My marriage brought me no peace and joy. I got married to Yakubu in April, 2017, according to Islamic Laws and Customs of Ankpa in Kogi and we have two children. My husband beats and humiliates me at the slightest provocation. I cannot take it any longer. I am afraid that one day he will kill me. He refers to me as a burden,” she told the Court.
The petitioner alleged that her husband brought sorrow to her because he flogged her with sticks and his waist belt while she pleaded with the Court to dissolve their marriage so that she will move on with her life.
“I told my husband’s family, but they could not prevail on him to change. He threatened to kill me,” she said.
The petitioner pleaded with the Court to dissolve their marriage and order the respondent to allow her remove her remaining belongings from his house.
The respondent, who was present in Court, did not object to the allegations leveled against him.
The judge, Mohammed Jibril, however, adjourned the matter for judgment.
