My Togolese Boyfriend Gave Me N13m To Cross Border With Gun – Lady Confesses 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Halimat, made the confession at the Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, after she was arrested with the gun by men of the Tactical team of the Command.

This was contained in the affidavit sworn by the Police before the Court after the suspect, Halimat Jubril, was apprehended while on a motorcycle on 20th September, 2025, at about 1130hrs at ECOWAS highway in Badagry.

The Police accosted her and a search was conducted on her hand bag. One fabricated pistol was found inside the bag. She was immediately arrested and detained at the Command’s Headquarters for interrogation.

In her confessional statement, she confessed that the fabricated pistol was given to her by her boyfriend, Friday, a Togolese to cross to Benin Republic. She said that the sum of N13,000,000.00 (Thirteen Million Naira) was given to her to enable her cross the border to escaped any arrest by security agencies.

However, she was unlucky as she was arrested and every effort to arrest the said Friday proved abortive as he is based in Benin Republic.

The Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The Court did not take her plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Phillip Ademigbuji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted the request and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice, while the defendant was remanded in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
