N.O.V.E.M.B.E.R I.S H.E.R.E! BRACE UP FOR AMEA!

Another year, another awards season, another evening of media event. Anambra Media Practitioners’ biggest night returns with the 2nd Annual Anambra Media Excellence Awards AMEA Awards on Nov. 29, and it is shaping up to be a battle of some of the outstanding media personalities in the year under review, from Newspapers, Radio, and TV to Social Media trailblazers.

Here’s what to know about the AMEA 2020:
When is the AMEA happening?
The AMEA 2020 is set to take place at the elegant Main Auditorium of Marble Arch Hotel, Awka, Anambra state, on Sunday, Nov. 29, at 3pm. The live awards will air at 6 p.m. on various online and terrestrial media platforms. (As with other awards shows, the majority of the awards aren’t actually televised; in most viewers’ opinions, the broadcasts are long enough as they are.)
Who will be delivering a Lecture at the Awards? 
At the AMEA 2020, there will be a paper presentation by Dr. Mbalisi Chinedu N. Senior Researcher, University Lecturer, Doctor of Philosophy in History and International studies, he will be speaking on the topic ‘Media in the age of Crime,  Cyber-propaganda and Fake News: Challenges and Prospects’.
How can I watch or stream this year’s show?
Viewers with cable can watch live on MOTv, CMTv, TTV, and ADMCA NETv. All-Access login can stream the show via the channel’s online package.  Other packages like YouTubeTV and Facebook Live will stream the AMEA live for subscribers. Or you can just follow along on Twitter, which will undoubtedly be quick to surface all the evening’s highlights and best memes.
Who is performing?
Chaka Dee, Black Don, African Micheal Jackson, Gyration music emperor AB Mansion, Ogene Live Music Band & Supper Girlies, Samos Uffie Traditional Music, and the award winning DJ Fabulous will be on the Mix. Finally, the most star-studded collaborative performance will come in the form of  Tripple-X dancer’s moment on stage: they are reportedly set to be joined by G-Squad. All of those acts will be live on AMEA big stage.
Who is hosting?
Delectable Screen goddess Ambassador Dr. Chinyere Okpe a.k.a Ada Owerri is returning to Awka as Chief host this season following her spin in the spotlight at Big Mama’s Show. Ada Owerri is a veteran broadcaster, having taken home 15 awards over the course of her career so far. Last year, she was warmly reviewed for her hosting style. Ada Owerri will be the first woman to host the AMEA, following the unannounced ‘pull-out’ of Nonye Nwokoye. On the redcarpet, broadcast Journalist Ify Okoye will glo and enliven the redcarpet session with her hosting style and fashion.

What’s up with the New Category?
Two Serving Commissioners are up for the Most Outstanding performances trophy: Hon Uchenna Okafor Wiper, Commissioner for Commerce,Industry & Wealth Creation, and Lady Ndidi Mezue, Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs. The outstanding serving Commissioners in Anambra State Government have  been nominated and will be recognized at the Awards. 
Who’s expected to win?
The awards could go in many directions. With several nominations, the most popular nominees who has the numbers on their side, and the Juried submissions. On Air Personalities, too, could be in for a good  night, with the large turn up of voters, the nominees are making their names to beat — but don’t count out Obioma Obidiegwu and Kamen Chuks lurked in the social media Influencer/Personality category, the online voting platform is presently witnessing a huge traffic. Also, on Radio Presenters category, the battle for the Golden Mic is fierce; Adamma of Kpakpando FM, Tochi Godspower Akwugo1 of Wazobia FM, Mumy Nina of Brila FM, Uchbaby of Lumen FM and Mc Fides Ogene FM are at the trenches. Only time will tell if mass voting also translates to AMEA approval.
Meanwhile, all nominees  have been aggressively promoting their designated voting links, canvassing for votes ahead of the awards. In the past few days, the AMEA 2020 nominees have practically broken the internet with over 3million reach this year, they’re upping the ante by becoming the first set of AMEA nominees to reach the milestone at the polls.
