Nanny, 63, In Police Net Over R*pe Of Mentally Challenged Girl, 8

A 63-year old nanny, Mrs. Grace Momodu, has landed in trouble in Lagos after an 8-year old mentally challenged girl, kept in her care, was raped by an unknown person.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mrs. Momodu has been arrested by the Police over the dastardly act.

The incident happened at Olayinka Street, Ajegunle area of Lagos, where Mrs. Momodu was employed as nanny to take care of the girl by her parents.

According to Police sources, Mrs. Momodu was given an apartment to take of the victim with an undisclosed monthly salary but the girl parents were shocked when it was discovered that blood was drifting from her private part.

Further checks revealed that she was raped by an unidentified person when Mrs. Momodu was not around and defiled in the process.
She was handed over to the Police at Gender Section of the Command for interrogation to explain what happened to the girl but she was not able to do so.

Having been found culpable, she was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence and she pleaded not guilty before Court.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, then asked the Court that since she pleaded not guilty, the Court should give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Ajibade, granted her bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum while she was remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till 7th September, 2021, for mention.
