National Convention Will Determine PDP’s Fate – Duben Onyia

Posted on November 18, 2017

The electoral success of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the forthcoming elections depends largely on its choice of Chairmanship at the National Convention slated for 9 December or the party should just forget that it ever existed.

This came from a one-time lawmaker and former Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Duben Onyia as he received a leading aspirant for the office of National Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Daniel in his country home in Enugu on Thursday.

According to the statesman, any attempt to impose any candidate by whatever means, without being pessimistic, will be the end of the party.

“As far as I’m concerned, I will stand against any form of imposition and should allow the people to make their choice”.
Welcoming Daniel to his residence, he thanked him for visiting him at his home and the act shows that he (Daniel) is a good politician being a grassroots man who will visit his constituents however remote where they are may be.
“Daniel is a man of great experience, highly courageous, bold and imbued with political will. He has the capacity. He is someone you see and respect and so the most qualified for the position,” he said.
Onyia also  sounded a note of warning that those who were responsible for the failure of the PDP in the past should never be allowed to destabilise it again.
Power, he stressed, should return to the people and by the time that is done and with a correct leadership, PDP and Nigeria will move forward.
In his response Daniel also thanked Onyia for his kind words of encouragement and insightful thoughts.
Having been to nearly all the nook and cranny of the nation during the campaign tour, Otunba Daniel said he has discovered that there are some missing values in both human and material resources which we have failed to annexe as a nation but with the support and encouragement of the likes Onyia, who he described as one of the leading lights in Nigeria, God will guide PDP to make the right choice and bring power back to the people.
