Ndi Igbo Honours Ayade’s Appointees

Igbo Congress, Cross River State Chapter is set to honour Igbo indigenes appointed by Governor Ben Ayade.
According to a statement, the group said it would be holding its maiden Thanksgiving “to honour their sons and daughters who have excelled in various fields, especially those appointed into government by Sen. Prof Ben Ayade.
According to the statement signed by Prince Raymond Atulomah, Interim President, Igbo Congress, Cross River State Chapter and Nze Chuks Agbarakwe, Chairman (Central Planning Committee), those to be honoured are Ugoji Nwabueze, Senior Special Assistant to Gov Ben Ayade on Non-indigene Affairs; Dr. Nancy Irek, Senior Special Assistant, Information; Hon Justice Adie Onyebueke, Presiding Judge Akamkpa High Court; and Mr. Chidiebere Onyemaizu, Senior Special Assistant, Print Media and Dr. Uche Ogah, Minister of State, Mines & Steel.
The event is under the chairmanship of Prof Rufus Okoro of Physics Department, University of Calabar.
It takes place on May 9 and would be preceded by Thanksgiving Service at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Navy Barracks, IBB Way, Calabar.
At the event, there would be Igbo cultural shows, display of Igbo cuisines and inauguration of the Congress Executive. Expected at the ceremony include Gov. Ben Ayade, Special Guest of Honour; Dr. Uche Ogah, Minister of State, Mines & Steel; Chief Gideon Ihezie (CEO, Gimpet Oil Nigeria Ltd) and Chief Fidelis O. Onyebueke (Grand Patron, Ohanaeze, CRS).
“The ceremony became necessary to say thank you to HE Prof Ben Ayade who found some of us worthy to be appointed into his cabinet, which is a novelty. To our brother Prof Ayade we say ‘Thank you for remembering Ndi Igbo and enjoin you to please do more as we are solidly behind you especially in the area of industrialization of the state.’ We, therefore, call on all Igbo sons and daughters to come out and be part of history as we celebrate our own,” the Group stated.
