Ndigbo Have Made Huge Sacrifices For Unity & Progress Of Nigeria – Says Ndigbo Media Forum
KINGSLEY EBERE
The National Coordinator of Ndigbo Media Forum Worldwide, Rev. Paul Eze, has stated that Ndigbo have made huge and enough sacrifices for the unity and progress of Nigeria over the years.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Rev. Eze stated this in Lagos as part of the communique released by the Ndigbo Media Forum at their end of the year meeting over the weekend.
He explained that the Igbo people knows the relevance of the National question in the national agenda more than any other ethnic configuration in the country.
According to the group, Ndigbo were at the forefront in the Nationalist struggle and largely instrumental in giving the nation its independence.
The group noted that Igbos have dominated the Nigerian economy over the years thereby contributing immensely to the economic growth of the country. NMF said that Ndigbo are responsible for developing almost all the major cities in Nigeria namely Lagos, Kano, Calabar, Abuja, Jos just to mention but a few.
“Ndigbo have actually seen it all; experienced the heights of ethnic ascendancy and the lowest depths of dejection, humiliation and misery. The sores of the Civil War are still very much with Ndigbo: in the Armed Forces, the Security agencies, the Police Force, in corporate houses and in the nation’s political leadership. It is no longer news that post – war administrative hurdles erected by Nigeria denied Ndigbo fair share in a Nation they built with their blood, sweat and tears” Eze stated.
The group posited that the Igbo spirit is not about the ethnic subjugation of one group by the other. Rather, it is about the opening up of equal vents of opportunities for the small as for the medium size and for the big, for the weak as for the half – weak and the strong. The group also praised Ndigbo for their wisdom, resilience, patience and understanding while reiterating that no tribe in Nigeria or any part of the world can live under such atmosphere full of hate, humiliation, rejection and still survive.
