A 7-year old girl has revealed that their neighbour, one John Uto, had turned her into a sex slave by continuously engaging her in sex whenever her parents went to work.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Pedro Street, Iwaya area of Yaba, Lagos, where they reside.

The little girl was said to have kept the trauma to herself because the suspect, Mr. Uto, warned her seriously that something of bad omen will happen to her if she revealed it to her parents or any other person. But she later revealed it and nothing strange happened to her as Mr. Uto had claimed after instilling fear in her.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect usually returned from work around 4pm when the parents of the girl will still be at their places of work and lured her into his apartment under the false pretence of sending her on errands. He was said to have engaged the victim in sex romps and warned her not to tell her parents.
However, the matter was exposed on 15th March, 2019, when the parents noticed the cold posture of the victim after the act and the mother asked what happened to her. She then opened up and revealed what Mr. Uto had been doing to her and how he warned her not to tell anyone about it.
The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested. Mr. Uto was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for investigation.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that during interrogation, the suspect denied but when the girl was brought before him, she narrated how he had raped her and he became speechless.
The police found him culpable and charged him before Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement.
His plea was not taken and was also denied bail after the prosecutor asked the Court to order for the DPP’s advice because it was a capital offence.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, ordered the remand of the defendant in prison custody without an option of bail.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice. The matter was adjourned till 26th April, 2019, when the Court expected that the DPP’s report will be ready.
It was gathered that Mr. Uto’s case may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial.
He may spend several years in prison if he is tried and found guilty by the Court for the alleged offence.
