Newly Built Pedestrian Bridge Across Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Into Alausa Secretariat Ready

Posted on September 3, 2018

For years, residents and commuters around Magodo Phase 2 and Alausa Secretariat axis had yearned for a pedestrian bridge to enable them navigate both sides of the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway section of the area.

Hence, many residents have lost their lives in an attempt to cross the road.

In response to their yearnings, the State Government under Governor Akinwunmi Ambode approved the construction of a pedestrian Bridge at that location, while the project was consequently commenced with the greater vision to ensure safety of lives and property of residents and commuters in the axis.

The project has since been completed as can be seen in the attached pictures.

Speaking on the new pedestrian bridge, Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Adebowale Akinsanya said it was indeed gratifying to note that the project had been completed in line with the vision to protect lives and improve aesthetics of the environment.

Giving details, Akinsanya said: “The six-legged Pedestrian Bridge across the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to Olowopopo Road provides a cross-walk for pedestrians to the Secretariat and also takes into consideration, pedestrians on and off the Lagos Ibadan Expressway as well as stairs and ramp for the physically challenged.

“Other features of the project include Lagos and Ibadan bound retaining wall, lay-by and pedestrian walkways on both sides, embankments protection, landscaping and beautification works and relocation of services and structures along the pedestrian bridge right of way, among others,” he said.
